Super Visa Insurance Saskatchewan
Super Visa Insurance in Saskatchewan
Bringing your parents or grandparents to Regina, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, or anywhere else in the province? We help Saskatchewan families get compliant Super Visa medical insurance in place quickly, at a fair price, from a licensed Canadian insurer.
Super Visa insurance for families across Saskatchewan
Whether your parents are landing in Regina to be near grandchildren, joining you on a farm outside Saskatoon, or settling in a smaller community like Prince Albert, Yorkton, or Swift Current, we arrange coverage that meets the federal Super Visa requirement before they board their flight.
Saskatchewan’s Punjabi, Filipino, and Ukrainian communities have grown quickly over the past decade, and many of the families we work with are sponsoring parents for the first time. We explain the paperwork in plain language, confirm your policy meets IRCC’s rules, and issue your proof-of-insurance letter the same day so it’s ready for the visa application.
What Super Visa insurance must include
$100,000 minimum
Coverage must be at least $100,000 CAD for health, hospitalization, and repatriation.
Full year validity
The policy must be valid for a minimum of one year from the date of entry to Canada.
Right type of coverage
Must cover healthcare, hospitalization, and repatriation specifically — general travel plans don’t always qualify.
Canadian insurer
Purchased from a Canadian company licensed and regulated to sell insurance in Canada.
What is Super Visa insurance?
Saskatchewan’s public health system doesn’t cover visitors — parents and grandparents on a Super Visa aren’t eligible for provincial health coverage the way permanent residents are, even after they arrive. Super Visa insurance is the private medical policy that fills that gap, paying for doctor visits, emergency care, hospital stays, and medically necessary treatment while your loved ones are here.
It’s also a legal requirement: without proof of a qualifying policy, the Super Visa application will be refused. Getting the right policy in place is the single most important step before you submit the application.
What is covered — and what is not
Typically covered
- Emergency hospital care and surgery
- Doctor and specialist visits
- Diagnostic tests (X-rays, lab work, imaging)
- Prescription drugs tied to a covered emergency
- Ambulance service
- Repatriation if needed
Typically excluded
- Routine checkups and elective procedures
- Pre-existing conditions not stabilized (varies by plan)
- Dental care, except accident-related emergencies
- Vision care and eyewear
- Cosmetic procedures
Have a pre-existing condition in the family? Several insurers offer stability-period options (as short as 90 days) that can still qualify your parents for coverage. Ask us before assuming they can’t be insured.
The real cost of an uninsured emergency
| Situation | Cost without insurance | Cost with Super Visa insurance |
|---|---|---|
| 3-day hospital stay | $12,000 – $25,000 | Deductible only |
| Emergency heart procedure | $40,000+ | Deductible only |
| Ambulance transport | $500 – $2,000 | Covered |
| Medical evacuation | $15,000+ | Covered |
LICO requirement for the host in Saskatchewan
As the person inviting your parents or grandparents, you’ll need to show your income meets or exceeds the federal Low Income Cut-Off (LICO) for your household size. This is a national requirement and applies the same way in Saskatchewan as elsewhere in Canada.
| Family size (including you) | Minimum necessary income (approx.) |
|---|---|
| 1 person | $30,526 |
| 2 people | $38,002 |
| 3 people | $46,720 |
| 4 people | $56,724 |
| 5 people | $64,336 |
| 6 people | $72,560 |
| 7 people | $80,784 |
Figures reflect the federal LICO thresholds effective July 29, 2025, and add $8,224 for each additional family member beyond 7. IRCC also allows a two-year lookback on host income as of 2026 — confirm current thresholds with IRCC before applying.
